At Credit Union of Denver (C·U·D), community is at the heart of everything we do. We’re passionate about giving back by supporting local causes, fostering financial literacy, and engaging in hands-on volunteer efforts that make a difference. Here’s a look at some of the ways we made a positive impact in 2024.
Supporting Local Causes Through Fundraising
Credit Union of Denver has long supported various local nonprofits. In 2024, we took part in eight big fundraising events to help support some amazing local nonprofits. One of our favorites is the annual pet calendar fundraiser benefitting Foothills Animal Shelter. Over the past decade, we’ve helped raise more than $140,000 to support their efforts of caring for animals in need.

We’re also proud to support The Action Center, which provides food and shelter to families in Jefferson County. And, at Children’s Hospital Colorado, our team got involved by making hundreds of handmade blankets to comfort young patients and raised funds for critical hospital programs.

Building Stronger Connections Through Community Events
In 2024, we participated in local events that brought people together and helped provide important resources. From health and wellness expos to local festivals like Cider Days and the Big Belmar Bash, we love getting out there and connecting with the community. One highlight was the Foothills Animal Shelter SqueakEasy, which raised funds for the shelter while also providing an opportunity for community engagement. These events help us understand the needs of our neighbors and give us a chance to share helpful financial tips and support.

Empowering Employees to Give Back
Giving back isn’t just something we encourage; it’s part of our culture. Through our Voluntary Time Off (VTO) program, we give our employees paid time off to volunteer for causes they care about. In 2024, employees participated in five dedicated volunteer events, including initiatives with The Action Center, Food Bank of the Rockies, and Children’s Hospital Colorado. These volunteers helped pack food for families in need and created handmade blankets for kids in the hospital.

“We’re incredibly proud of our employees and their commitment to giving back,” says Michele Lee, Director of Marketing & Business Development. “By encouraging them to get involved, we’re all contributing to making our community stronger.” The VTO program shows how powerful employee-driven initiatives can be in making a difference.

Teaching Financial Literacy for a Bright Future
Education is another cornerstone of C·U·D’s commitment to the community. In 2024, the credit union hosted over 25 financial education seminars for local high school and college students. From budgeting and saving to understanding credit, these seminars help equip young people with the knowledge they need to confidently manage their money and set themselves up for success.

Making a Lasting Impact
Through all these efforts—fundraising, volunteering, community events, and financial education—we’re committed to building a stronger, more connected community.
At Credit Union of Denver, it’s not just about providing financial services, it’s about supporting our community and helping people thrive. With every event, every donation, and every moment spent volunteering, we continue to build a stronger, more connected community. Together, we can make a real difference, proving that even the smallest efforts can have a big impact.
